This Part Doesn't Have Pictures
A running log of ideas, lessons, and questions from inside the creative process.
I didn’t add this blog to make the site feel more official. I added it because I want this site to be more than just a visual portfolio. I wanted it to be a holistic archive of my experience as an artist. As a photographer.
Margin Notes is where I’ll collect thoughts about photography, creative process, tools, mindset, and anything else that feels worth retaining. Some entries will be long-form. Others will be short reflections or photo deep-dives. Occasionally I’ll share practical advice for other photographers, especially people just getting started. But this won’t be a space for editing breakdowns or tutorials. Not because I’m gatekeeping my process, but because I think the only real way to develop your style is by working through the early mess of it yourself.
There’s something I really dig about the idea of scribbling in the margins. When someone writes next to a line in a book, it usually means it made them feel something. It’s a form of engagement that breaks the rules a little. That’s the vibe I envision for this blog. The romantic rebellion of writing in the margins.
I don’t think of myself as a writer, but I write almost every day. Sometimes it’s just a few lines in my journal, or quick observations on what I’m learning. Writing has always helped me process what I am thinking or feeling. This blog is a dedicated place for me to process things that are directly aligned with my creative process and identity.
This site is meant to be a full picture of what I’m building, not just a gallery. The photos will always be the center, but they aren’t the whole story. For anyone who wants a deeper look, this space is dedicated to a sort of behind-the-lens look into my artistic identity. A record of where I was, where I am, and where I’m hoping to go.
If you made it here, thanks for reading. I’ll keep adding to it as my work evolves.
